A SLOW TRAVELLER AND VISUAL STORY TELLER : NABINA NAZAR

what is travel to you? share a travel memory that left a lasting emotional impact.

"Travel is a chance to step into worlds I’ve only read about or seen on screen, transforming fiction into reality. It’s a mindful journey where I slow down, soak in each moment, and build meaningful connections with new people and places. These experiences have taught me to live simply, appreciate small joys, and find beauty in what might otherwise be overlooked.

One of my most cherished travel memories happened in the Himalayas. On a snowy morning, I found myself being chased by mountain dogs, and in my panic, I slipped and fell. A young girl named Aleesha came to my rescue, helping me up the hill despite the language barrier.

Her kindness left a deep mark on me, reminding me of the generosity of strangers and the unexpected connections that make travel so enriching. It’s moments like these that show the true spirit of humanity and the beauty of travel."

In what ways has slow living transformed your approach to travel?

"Slow living has completely redefined how I travel. Instead of rushing to check off tourist attractions, I now embrace the uncertainty of wandering aimlessly. This slower pace allows me to experience places on a deeper level—whether it’s observing daily life in a neighborhood, engaging in conversations with locals, or learning from the traditions they hold dear. My travel has become less about seeing and more about being, allowing each journey to unfold naturally and meaningfully."

What is Nabina wearing?

What sparks your creative vision behind the lens?

"The world around me—the light, weather, and colors. The way light dances through trees, or the moodiness of a cloudy day inspires me to tell visual stories. I don’t consciously plan my compositions; they often evolve naturally based on the colors and tones of a place. As I capture different scenes, I start to notice a common thread or palette that ties them together. It’s as if the place itself dictates the aesthetic, allowing me to create a series of images that flow into one another, forming a larger visual narrative."

HOW DOES SLOW LIVING ENRICH YOUR CONNECTION WITH THE WORLD AND TRANSFORM YOUR APPROACH TO TRAVEL?

"The opportunity to form meaningful connections with nature and people drives me to keep exploring. I’m particularly passionate about staying in locally-run accommodations and learning about the crafts and traditions of the places I visit. Through mindful travel, I’ve found ways to support local artisans and give back to communities, creating a positive impact wherever I go. It’s a journey of consuming less and reflecting on how the things I bring into my life impact not only me but also the world around me. Living this way brings clarity, purpose, and a deep sense of contentment. "

How do you hope your photos resonate with others emotionally?

"I want my photographs to make people feel something—whether it’s happiness, hope, or a sense of longing for adventure. My work is a window into the beauty of life’s often unnoticed details. Just like art transports me—whether through a movie scene or a painting—I hope my photos can offer that same sense of escape and discovery, encouraging people to see the world with fresh eyes."
